Estimating as 8.00 - 8.12T based on word count. I assume it will end either before or on the interlude which is the next chapter. There is a big spoiler that started at the end of the last book but continued through this one, which does take something out of the whole story. Certain chapters like the one set in Oteslia and Wistram are great, but in general just kind of moved along. Will probably take a break for the summer and maybe see if the official releases can catch up. Chandrar actually had some interesting chapters in this one which is not always true.

The Wandering Inn #21

The Wandering Inn #21

Erin is dead and the solstice is passed (double entendre). Silveran, the antinium worker in the inn, goes and finds another job helping clean up peoples shops and help the antinium image. Pawn is angry and is gaining bad skills because he is questioning his faith. The Horns of Hammerad try to see the healer of Tenbault but can’t so Pisces comes up with a plan to retrieve another piece of the Heartflame armor and get Az’Kerash (The Necromancer) to heal Erin. Ulvama the goblin shaman has reached the inn through the magic door, and tries to comfort Numbtongue and Mrsha. Lyonette leaves for Oteslia, along with the Gentleman Callers, Wilovan and Ratici.

Some of the residents of the inn begin to go elsewhere. A bunch of antinium enlist in the city watch to help defend Liscor. Manus is super worried about the antinium in general. Magnolia Reinhardt arrives in Zeres, the first of the five families to enter a walled city in forever. She does so with fanfare and heads to Oteslia for her meeting.

The Meeting of the Tribes is taking place. We meet Inkhar, an earther from Mongolia who has been living with plains gnolls. They plan to meet with the Silverfur group and head to the tribe. On the way they visit half of a downed plane from Earth. A lot of gnoll-ish politics happen, and they spread knowledge of Earthers and the new inventions from Earth. Liscor has a lot to share thanks to Erin.

Elirr tries to find one of the earthers still in Liscor to send to the meetings and decides on Rose. Ryoka has a weapon from the fairy realm, and uses her wingsuit and hangglider to actually fly using wind magic. Ulvama is able to summon some of Erin’s magic fire and brings hope back to the inn.

Fetohep is feeling bored, and a dangerous slaver in Roshar is learning about Earth tech, developing cannons. Teriarch, in the form of Eldavin, arrives at Wistram. He is scandalized by how shoddy everything is and becomes friends with Trey, disguised as Troy Atlas. Eldavin duels Feor and the other archmages and then starts his own faction, the Terras faction, to teach people how to do good magic. He wants to help Erin, but has to handle Wistram first.

Wall Lord Ilvriss is working very hard to assemble his anti-necromancer group. He eventually collapses from exhaustion, but then recruits a talented prostitute and the named adventurer Shriekblade, as well as his uncle, a talented diplomat. He is learning to get high level people regardless of class. When he hears about Erin he spends a lot of money to buy a partial regeneration potion that does not work, but his hostile purchase invites repercussions and he threatens another drake family.

Rabbiteater, disguised as the knight Ser Solstice, arrives at the Order of Seasons headquarters with Dame Talia. More and more knights learn he is a goblin and some don’t care, but Dame Talia is angry and won’t talk to him. He begins to make friends and many of them see goblins maybe can be good. Eldavin begins reteaching how to do the basics of magic (as he sees it), helping students become great mages.

Lyonette is worried about the war in Terandria. Ailendamus is beating the Dawn Concordant, of which her home kingdom of Calanfer is a member. She arrives in Oteslia with Wilovan and Ratici as guards, but also Saliss who needs more potion supplies. They hope to find someone to research a cure for Erin. Once they get there they stay with a named adventurer, Mivifa, a pegasus rider who is a friend of Saliss. They discover that all of the researchers in the city are busy with a mysterious project, which turns out to be faerie flowers. They are all furious since those are Erin’s and they should not have them. They try to protest but the First Gardener can’t do much about it, so Lyonette gets Wilovan and Ratici to steal every flower in the city. Using this new monopoly they begin to sell flowers, get supplies, and get help researching for Erin. They also meet Wil and Yeranola from the Titan’s academy.

Jecaina Leysars is trying to lead Jecrass after her father got kidnapped, but it is hard. Reim and the King of Destruction offer her a truce but she denies them. She makes a lot of good, canny decisions and helps her country a lot, mostly with the help of Fetohep. He is bored so he talks to Jecaina all day and advises her so she becomes a much better queen. In the end she calls a council of leaders of Chandrar on the Wistram News Network and they decide to execute Prime Minister Lyfelt. This slightly appeases the King of Destruction, but a bigger issue is that now Medain (The group that kidnapped her father) is invading. Everything seems about to fall apart despite her clever plans, when Fetohep of Khelt rolls up with a massive undead army. Jecaina sold him a good river portion of Jecrass in exchange for his protection, so Khelt expands + has water and she is temporarily free from her problems.

Pelt forges some Adamantium, a very intensive process, then gives it to the Dullahan smith Maudin. Ryoka is a good flying courier now and visits some friends. The Necromancer is still trying to teach his chosen while Toren runs around. The Horns call on other adventuring to help them invade the Village of the Dead, a named rank threat. A shocking amount of teams come in Erin’s name and just for an adventure.

Guardsman Tkrn of Liscor is making friends at the Meeting of Tribes. Him and Inkhar meet with the Titans other students, Venaz, Feshi, Meric, etc. They play baseball and speak of new Liscor inventions, while witnessing talented gnolls. They even become friends with Lehra Ruinstrider, a newly made named ranked adventurer gnoll. Ferkr, the gnoll mage from Pallas, gets abducted while traveling to the meeting.

We get a weird chapter were Erin seems to travel back home to Earth, but then realizes it is an illusion. This happens a bunch of times and we learn they are called “The Spirited Generation” on Earth and they are aware people are vanishing. Eventually Erin breaks the loop and one of the newly awakened gods is with her. Maviola and Zel’s ghosts sacrifice themselves to save her, and she runs and meets a dead dragon and some others. More gods appear to chase her and she flees across this spirit realm of death to Chandrar, where the ancient rulers of Khelt can keep the gods away. Erin uses her imagination to summon stuff to help them. She knows she is half alive and hopes for a way to return to life.

Trey is learning a lot in Wistram, mostly thanks to Eldavin. His hunt for archmage Amerys still has not found anything though. The factions still fight over earthers although they have made some spaces for themselves. Trey makes some new friends, but then archmage Viltach sees his lifesand golem and invites him to his room to talk. They experiment with golems and talk about magic. Trey gets claimed by Eldavin’s Terras faction, but at the end goes to Viltach and outright asks him for help freeing Amerys. THE END.
